Women’s Heart Disease Program

Heart disease is the leading killer of both women and men in the United States, but can manifest differently in women or be more difficult to diagnose. The Women’s Heart Disease Program at Temple aims to help women better understand their risks and the signs of heart disease, and reduce their chances of developing problems.

We also assist women with heart disease in managing their condition, and provide comprehensive treatment to achieve better quality of life.

Diagnosing Hidden Conditions

Many women with early-stage heart disease do not have symptoms. Temple’s advanced diagnostic facilities and genetic testing options allow us to identify heart disease in women who are at high-risk, before it becomes symptomatic. This often leads to better outcomes. Our diagnostic abilities also help us locate blockages in smaller arteries of the heart, a problem that is more prevalent among women and that often doesn’t appear on traditional scans.

Our team has experience advising women on lifestyle changes that can reduce the risks or symptoms of heart disease.
