It was a crisp, sunny November morning: the kind that’s best spent soaking up the weather outside. And our 31 teams from across Temple Health had the chance to do just that when they made the rounds outside Citizens Bank Park for the American Heart Association (AHA)’s annual Philadelphia Heart Walk.
Funds raised from the Heart Walk support the AHA’s lifesaving mission and the vital work the organization does in our community. That includes increasing access to care by collaborating with neighborhood partners to reduce blood pressure and decrease heart and stroke risk; working with local farms, food pantries, and prescription programs to ensure that underserved communities can obtain fresh foods and vegetables; and increasing the bystander CPR rate so we can put more fast-acting lifesavers on the street, which can double or even triple a person’s chances of survival if they suffer a cardiac event.
Thanks to Heart Walk volunteers—including our Temple Health teams—the AHA will be able to continue, and expand on, this critical work. Please join us in thanking everyone who participated in the Heart Walk, and enjoy these pictures of your Temple Health colleagues walking to advance heart health in our community.
