Claire Raab, MD, has been appointed President and CEO of Temple Faculty Physicians (TFP), effective July 1, 2021. In this role, Dr. Raab will oversee TFP’s operations and preside over committees with wide representation from clinical chairs and faculty. The position had been held on an interim basis by Thomas Kupp, who will now return full-time to his role as Senior Vice Dean, Finance and Administration for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
“Dr. Raab is an exceptional physician-leader with a proven track record of building effective teams that get results,” said Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital. “Her expertise spans the realms of capacity management, quality of clinical care, efficient throughput across the continuum and through the Health System, forming community relationships, building bridges with healthcare providers outside of Temple, and more.”
Dr. Raab’s leadership contributed to Temple University Hospital’s jump from the 4th quartile of Vizient’s efficiency ranking to the 1st quartile in only nine months, as well as national recognition with a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of 'A' for two consecutive years. She led our COVID-19 pandemic operations in Boyer Pavilion, with COVID care outcomes that are one-third better than the state and nation.
“Dr. Raab is the rare hybrid medical professional who can walk the clinical walk and talk the financial talk, earning universal respect from her Temple clinical and administrative colleagues,” added Young.
