Eric Velazquez, MD, FACS, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and an attending physician at Temple University Hospital.
Board-certified in Surgery, Dr. Velazquez specializes in general, minimally invasive, and bariatric surgery. His research interests include metabolic and bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, and abdominal wall reconstruction.
Dr. Velazquez earned his medical degree at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. He completed a General Surgery Residency at the New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center, and a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the New York Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Prior to joining Temple, Dr. Velazquez served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in North Carolina, the acting Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery and Surgical Services for the Provider Network at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton, NC.
Dr. Velazquez is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.
