Elcy Shaji, RN, a nurse on Unit 2B, was recently honored with the DAISY Award at TUH-Jeanes Campus. Shaji was singled out for her compassion and her dedication to her patients, as her nomination shows:
“I want to send a special thank you to Nurse Elcy for the way she has been taking care of my mom. My mom praises her so much to our family. Elcy is compassionate and attentive. Her caring ways and commitment to her patients have not gone unnoticed. As Elcy ends her shift, she enters my mom’s room to hold her hand and wish her well. The way Elcy cares for my mom is unmatched. I wish to express my sincere gratitude for her exceptional care. Elcy’s dedication and professionalism have significantly impacted my mom’s life in so many ways. We truly appreciate and value Nurse Elcy.”
The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
