Read an excerpt from her nomination, written by a patient’s family member, to learn more about her exceptional dedication to those in her care:

“I am writing to nominate Gina Riviello for the DAISY Award, as I believe she truly exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding nurse. Throughout my mom’s treatment at Temple University Hospital, Nurse Riviello has been an invaluable advocate for her health and wellbeing. Gina consistently went above and beyond in her role, ensuring that my mom received the best possible care. She took the time to explain medical procedures and test results, making sure that both my mom and family understood what was happening at every step. Her ability to communicate effectively and compassionately made a challenging time much easier for us.

“One of the most remarkable aspects of Gina’s care was her proactive approach in arranging phone calls for lab work and doctor’s appointments. She took the initiative to coordinate these essential services, which alleviated a significant burden for our family during a stressful period. Her efforts ensured that my mom received timely and appropriate care, demonstrating her deep commitment to her patients.

“Nurse Riviello is not only skilled and knowledgeable, but also genuinely cares about her patients. She has a unique ability to connect with people, making them feel heard and valued. This personal touch is what sets her apart and makes her a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award. I believe that Nurse Gina Riviello’s dedication and compassion make her an excellent representative of the values this award seeks to honor.”

The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
