Pennsylvania State Sens. Steve Santarsiero, Vincent Hughes and Sharif Street, along with Jen Gilburg, Deputy Secretary of Technology and Entrepreneurship for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED); Josh Gladden, Temple University’s Vice President for Research; Riyaz Bashir, MD, FACC, Director of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine at Temple University Hospital and Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Marvin Woodall, Thrombolex Co-Founder and Executive Chairman; and patient Irving Vaughn attended a press conference at iNest, Temple’s new innovation center on the Temple Health Sciences Campus, on February 24th. The press conference recognized a $750,000 grant from DCED and the impact of federal investment from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on the BASHIR™ Endovascular Catheter (THROMBOLEX, Inc.), which was invented by Dr. Bashir.
