The Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OHEDI) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University hosted “An Evening for Black Men in Medicine” for pre-professional and undergraduate black men on Friday, November 5th. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with one another and with Temple-affiliated black male physicians and medical students to encourage conversation, connection and affinity-building among black men in medicine. In collaboration with Steuart Wright, a second-year black male medical student at the Katz School of Medicine, Amy J. Goldberg, MD, FACS, Interim Dean and George S. Peters, MD and Louise C. Peters Chair and Professor of Surgery at the Katz School of Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Perioperative Services at Temple University Health System, introduced Dr. Jason Wingard, President of Temple University. Dr. Wingard was followed by keynote speaker Deric C. Savior, MD, Head of Medical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital and Associate Professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology. 6ABC attended the event.
