The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) highlighted Temple University Hospital’s recent efforts to standardize and streamline the bronchoscopy selection process, including whether or not the procedure can safely take place at the bedside and whether a re-usable or disposable scope is most appropriate. The new process required involvement from project management, respiratory care, central supply, and pulmonary, trauma, and burn physicians. The AARC interviewed Sean P. Duffy, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Hernan Alvarado Jr., MBA, RRT, RPFT, Associate Vice President of Respiratory Care and Sleep Diagnostics Services at Temple University Health System; Anoop George, RRT, Assistant Manager for Respiratory Care at Temple University Hospital; and Tanya Cofield, Supervisor of the Bronchoscopy Suite and Pulmonary Function Lab at Temple University Hospital, for the article.
