Association of Health Care Journalists Highlights New Research Led by Dr. Jessica Beard on Harmful News Reporting of Community Firearm Violence

The Association of Health Care Journalists highlighted new research published in the journal PLOS ONE on which Jessica H. Beard, MD, MPH, FACS, Interim Trauma Program Medical Director at Temple University Hospital and Director of Trauma Research and Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, served as the corresponding author. Twelve specific news content elements were identified as harmful and were rated by severity at the individual, community, and societal level.
