Becker’s Health IT highlighted a new five-year grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases that will allow researchers to better predict which patients with diabetes are most likely to experience additional hospital visits. The $2.5 million in funding will aid the development of improved models that accurately and automatically predict 30-day readmission risk based on electronic health record data. Daniel J. Rubin, MD, MSc, FACE, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) and Chair of the Glycemic Control Taskforce at Temple University Hospital, is the lead investigator on the grant. Anuradha Paranjape, MD, MPH, FACP, Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine and Professor of Medicine and Professor of Clinical Sciences at LKSOM, is a collaborator on the project.
