Temple University Health System’s preparations for and treatment of patients amidst the coronavirus pandemic continue to be part of the media’s COVID-19 coverage.
- Thomas Fekete, MD, MACP, Thomas Durant Chair and Professor of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, spoke with the Philadelphia Inquirer about the duration of COVID-19 symptoms and contagious-ness of the virus, as well as the possibility of reinfection.
- WHYY interviewed Matthew Gordon, MD, Assistant Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, as part of a segment on the Lungpacer Diaphragm Pacing Therapy System, an intravenous catheter-based system aimed at assisting in weaning patients off mechanical ventilation. The system received emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April. The Temple Lung Center team was the first in the U.S. to treat a COVID-19 patient with the system following the FDA’s authorization.
