Abhijit Pathak, MD, MS, FACS, Interim Chief of Trauma at Temple University Hospital, and Scott Charles, MAPP, FCPP, Trauma Outreach Manager for Temple University Hospital, spoke with FOX29, KYW Newsradio and Metro Philadelphia about the HospitalsTogether.com initiative and its “It Doesn’t Kill to Ask” public service campaign, which encourages a community approach to protecting children from unlocked guns and empowers caregivers, parents and community members to speak up about safe gun storage in homes a child might visit. With firearms the leading cause of injury and death in children, 13 health systems in Philadelphia, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey – including Temple – are kicking off the year with the campaign.
