Anjali Vaidya, MD, FACC, FASE, FACP, Co-Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension, Right Heart Failure & CTEPH Program and Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship at Temple University Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, joined KYW Newsradio to discuss a new study published online in the journal Pulmonary Circulation about a virtual screening tool that simplifies the process of diagnosing a complex form of heart failure known as pulmonary hypertension. The new tool, known as the Virtual Echocardiography Screening Tool (VEST), makes use of initial data from echocardiography, which captures images of the heart, and accurately and remotely diagnoses pulmonary hypertension based on a simple analysis of multiple echocardiogram features – a major advance in virtual patient care, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Vaidya is the lead author of the Pulmonary Circulation study. MSN.com picked up the piece by KYW Newsradio.
