Carlene Muto, MD, MS, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control for Temple Health, provided perspective for an Everyday Health article about the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s approval of FluMist for self- or caregiver-administration. FluMist is a nasal spray version of the flu vaccine and is approved for use in individuals 2 to 49 years old. It is the first vaccine to prevent the flu that does not need to be administered by a health care provider.
