Gary S. Cohen, MD, FSIR, Herbert M. Stauffer Chair of Diagnostic Imaging at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Radiologist-in-Chief of Temple University Health System, offered insight to Radiology Today magazine about radiomics in medical imaging, which extracts features from acquired images using advanced mathematical analysis. The goal is to produce imaging data beyond what the human eye is capable of detecting. Dr. Cohen explained to Radiology Today that he is hopeful radiomics may enable earlier diagnosis and interventions, as well as more focused and specific treatments.
