Gerard J. Criner, MD, FACP, FACCP, Chair and Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Director of the Temple Lung Center, and Helga Criner, RN, research nurse coordinator at Temple, were interviewed by the Temple News for a feature on the recent FDA approval of the Spiration Valve System, a new minimally invasive endobronchial treatment for severe emphysema. Temple played a leading part in the FDA approval, and it was the second time in 2018 that the institution was the lead enroller for a study that enabled nationwide access to a new and minimally invasive treatment option for emphysema patients.
