Isaac Russell Whitman, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective to Healthline for an article about a study published in JAMA Cardiology which found that Black patients hospitalized with atrial fibrillation are less likely to be prescribed anticoagulant medications and are more likely to experience worse health outcomes compared to white patients. Dr. Whitman was not involved in the study.
