View All News

Maura Sammon, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, spoke with NBC10 about the situation in a Texas border town where more than 6,000 Haitians and other migrants have been removed from an encampment and deported. This comes as Haiti is in crisis after the assassination of the Haitian president and a devastating earthquake that killed more than 2,000 people. Dr. Sammon says the Haitians are coming to the U.S. because their family’s lives are in danger.  Dr. Sammon is Medical Director of the nonprofit organization Global Response Management (GRM), which provides medical care and humanitarian relief to vulnerable populations affected by conflict or disaster. She has been working the medical clinics on the Mexican side of the border.
