Molly C. Cincotta, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, provided perspective for a Neurology Today article about a study of cognitive impairment in people with essential tremor published in Annals of Neurology. The study found that conversion rates of essential tremor to mild cognitive impairment and dementia tend to be lower than the decline observed in Parkinson’s disease but significantly higher than the toll that accompanies typical aging. Dr. Cincotta was not involved with the study.
