View All News

Nina Gentile, MD, Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, presented the details and results of the I-SPOT trial at the International Stroke Conference in February. The American Heart Association included a write-up in its Professional Heart Daily newsletter, and Dr. Gentile participated in a video interview on the subject as well. The Insights on Selected Procoagulation Markers and Outcomes in Stroke (I-SPOT) trial was an ancillary study related to the Stroke Hyperglycemia Insulin Network Effort (SHINE) clinical trial. The goal was to study the effects of glucose levels and hyperglycemia control on blood coagulation markers and their relationships to functional neurological outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Dr. Gentile was the principal investigator of I-SPOT.
