View All News

Oneida Arosarena, MD, FACS, Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion and Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), discussed efforts to increase diversity in medicine, particularly the field of otolaryngology, and what that could mean for health disparities with ENT Today. Otolaryngology has one of the lowest rates of underrepresented minorities among medical and surgical residencies, according to the ENT Today story. Dr. Arosarena outlined steps that LKSOM has taken, including establishing the Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in 2015, creating a diversity council, and training the admissions team on implicit bias.
