Samuel Krachman, DO, Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Director of the Sleep Center at Temple University Hospital and Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus, offered insight to Reuters Health about a study published in the journal Thorax which found that in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, night-time oxygen desaturation and higher heart rate at time of diagnosis were associated with future cardiovascular events. The study also suggested a subgroup of patients more likely to benefit from CPAP. Dr. Krachman was not involved in the study. MD Alert, Medscape and MDedge picked up the Reuters Health article.
