Yoshiya Toyoda, MD, PhD, William Maul Measey Chair and Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery, Surgical Director of Thoracic Transplantation and Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at Temple University Hospital; and Co-Surgical Director of the Temple Heart and Vascular Institute, and patient Thomas Puskar joined 6ABC to discuss the TransMedics Organ Care System for Lung, or OCS Lung. TUH was the first hospital in Pennsylvania to perform a breathing lung transplant using the OCS Lung following Food and Drug Administration approval of the device for standard and expanded criteria donor lungs. Mr. Puskar was the first patient to benefit at Temple.
