Kraftin Schreyer, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) and Medical Director of the Emergency Room at Temple University Hospital’s Episcopal Campus, and Gina Simoncini, MD, MPH, FACP, AAHIVS, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at LKSOM, Associate Professor in the Center for Asian Health at LKSOM and Deputy Director of the Comprehensive HIV Program, worked together to establish a system for providing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to ED patients at TUH’s Episcopal and Main campuses. PrEP is a prescription pill which, if taken daily, has a 92 percent chance of preventing HIV from being contracted. WHYY wrote about the collaboration, and the Philadelphia Tribune picked up that coverage.
