Temple University announced the appointment of John Fry as its 15th president after a unanimous vote of the University’s Board of Trustees and a national search. Fry will officially start his tenure after new leadership has been named at Drexel University. There was extensive media coverage of the announcement, including from the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Business Journal (x2). The Philadelphia Inquirer highlighted the long relationship that Fry has with Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President & CEO of Temple Health. Young and Fry worked together when Young led Lancaster General Hospital and Fry was President of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster. Amy J. Goldberg, MD, FACS, The Marjorie Joy Katz Dean for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and a member of the selection committee, spoke with the Philadelphia Inquirer about Fry’s appointment and said that Fry is an experienced leader who believes in Temple’s mission and its commitment to teaching, research and service to the community.
