The Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OHEDI) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) hosted “An Evening with Black Men in Medicine” for pre-professional and undergraduate black males. Attendees had the opportunity to meet and connect with black Temple-affiliated physicians in an attempt to address the national decline in the number of black men in medicine. The Philadelphia Inquirer published a report on the event and featured Germyce Harris, Multi-Cultural Recruitment Coordinator at LKSOM; Vincent Cowell, MD, Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at LKSOM; Leonard L. Mason, III, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma & Surgical Critical Care at LKSOM; and Sean Brown, student at LKSOM. WHYY-FM and 6ABC-TV also covered the event.
