Media Outlets Highlight #RealCollegeHBCU Coalition between Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice and the Center for the Study of Historically Black Colleges and Universities

In response to its findings that two-thirds of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students in fall 2020 experienced high rates of basic needs insecurity, the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and the Center for the Study of Historically Black Colleges and Universities at Virginia Union University have launched the #RealCollegeHBCU coalition. The coalition will build capacity and support for 10 HBCUs, including six historically Black community colleges, to address declining STEM enrollment and enhance students’ and institutional well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.
