Temple Health and 6ABC-TV collaborated on a sponsored segment about gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. The segment featured Abbas El-Sayed Abbas, MD, MS, FACS, Professor and Vice Chair of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM); Thoracic Surgeon-in-Chief and Surgical Director of the Lung Cancer, Thoracic, Malignancy and Foregut Disease Programs at Temple University Health System; and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Temple University Hospital (TUH); and Zubair Malik, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine at LKSOM and Director of the Esophageal Program at TUH. Dr. Abbas discussed how the Linx Device may be a surgical option for patients with GERD, and Dr. Malik emphasized that patients should see a specialist to monitor the condition.
