The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University held its annual Match Day for graduating medical students on Friday, March 18th. During the event, students – many accompanied by family and friends – learned where they will spend their next few years of residency training. Amy J. Goldberg, MD, FACS, Interim Dean and George S. Peters, MD and Louise C. Peters Chair and Professor of Surgery at the Katz School of Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief of Temple University Health System, led the students on a 1-minute countdown before they simultaneously opened the letters identifying their residency programs. Multiple media outlets attended the event. 6ABC spoke with Sean Brown, who matched in emergency medicine at Harvard at Mass General Brigham; Amber Shelton, who matched in pediatrics at Children’s National Hospital; and Christina Lopez, who matched in dermatology at Boston University Medical Center. FOX29 spoke with Chi Akpunonu, who matched in general surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center. WFMZ and the Bucks County Herald spoke with Nicholas Roma, a Temple St. Luke’s student who matched at St. Luke’s Hospital in internal medicine and cardiology. Comments from Shaden Eldakar-Hein, MD, MS, St. Luke’s University Health Network and Senior Associate Dean and Associate Professor at the Katz School of Medicine, were included in the Bucks County Herald article.
