March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center each hosted events including a guided, interactive walk through a giant inflatable colon, where participants could learn more about various colon conditions, and a table with information about colorectal cancer, prevention, and treatment. Free FIT (fecal immunochemical) test kits were available at TUH. The Philadelphia Inquirer published a preview of the event, while 6ABC and NBC10 covered it. Ana M. Gamero, PhD, Associate Professor of Medical Genetics and Molecular Biochemistry, Associate Professor in the Fels Cancer Institute for Personalized Medicine and Associate Professor of Cancer and Cellular Biology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University; Jessica A. Briscoe, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Program Director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship, Department of Medicine, Section of Gastroenterology, at the Katz School of Medicine; and Rishabh Khatri, MD, Resident Physician in the Department of Internal Medicine, were interviewed.
