U.S. Representative Dwight Evans held a news conference on April 21st at Temple University Hospital announcing a $51 billion, seven-point plan to fight gun violence in Philadelphia and around the country. Congressman Evans was joined by Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney; Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Temple University Health System; State Senators Art Haywood and Sharif Street; Amy J. Goldberg, MD, FACS, Interim Dean and George S. Peters, MD and Louise C. Peters Chair and Professor of Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Surgeon-in-Chief of Temple University Health System; and Marla Davis Bellamy, of Philadelphia CeaseFire, the Katz School of Medicine and Temple’s university-wide task force on gun violence. Multiple media outlets, including WHYY, FOX29, CBS3, PhillyVoice, the Philadelphia Tribune and NBC10, reported on the plan.
