A Philadelphia Gay News feature article highlighted the UNIQUE Project: an initiative designed to help Temple Health internal medicine residents and clinic staff members improve their communication skills, build empathy, and learn about the experiences of trans and non-binary patients through standardized patient interactions. UNIQUE stands for Uniting in Inter-professional learning to serve the QUeer community through Education. PGN interviewed Jamie Garfield, MD, Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, who leads the UNIQUE Project; along with Scout Silverstein, an agender and intersex-identified person who sat on the board of the UNIQUE Project; and Quinn Willer, a transmaculine, nonbinary person who also sat on the UNIQUE Project board.
