Accelerate Health Equity, which brings together organizations across the region to produce tangible improvement in health inequities and ultimately achieve measurable, positive changes in health outcomes in Philadelphia, recently launched. The organizations involved include AmeriHealth Caritas, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia, Drexel University, Independence Blue Cross, Jefferson Health, Main Line Health, Penn Medicine, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Temple Health and Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. Housing Smart from Temple Health, which focuses on housing and support services for those without housing, is one of the initial pilot programs that is part of the initiative. The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Business Journal, the Philadelphia Tribune, PhillyVoice and Al Día were among the media outlets that highlighted the news. Comments from Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President and CEO of Temple University Health System, were featured in the coverage, and Steven R. Carson, MHA, BSN, RN, Senior Vice President of Population Health for TUHS, was interviewed by the Inquirer.
