The Philadelphia Inquirer highlighted a program launched by Temple Health in collaboration with Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University to improve access to screening for colorectal cancer, which disproportionately affects Black Americans. The project brings free stool-based fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits to the community – making them available at grocery stores, neighborhood events, even the hospital lobby. The Inquirer spoke with Claire Raab, MD, President and CEO of Temple Faculty Physicians, and Rishabh Khatri, MD, Internal Medicine Chief Resident at the Katz School of Medicine, about the project, which has distributed nearly 1,000 kits in about seven months.
