PhillyVoice spoke with Parth Rali, MD, Director of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Program at Temple University Hospital, for a story about how Temple Health has endorsed federal legislation designed to raise national awareness about blood clots and identify new ways to detect and monitor the condition to better understand how many Americans are affected. The legislation could have a big impact on Temple’s patient population. Black Americans have a 30-60% higher occurrence of blood clots than white Americans with a correspondingly higher mortality rate.
