Temple News Shines a Spotlight on $500,000 Grant Awarded to Dr. Silvia Fossati for Alzheimer’s Disease Drug Discovery Research

The Temple News interviewed Silvia Fossati, PhD, Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Associate Director of the Alzheimer’s Center at Temple at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, and Domenico Praticò, MD, the Scott Richards North Star Charitable Foundation Chair for Alzheimer’s Research, Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Microbiology, and Director of the Alzheimer’s Center at Temple at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, for a feature on the two-year $500,000 grant that Dr. Fossati received from The Edward N. and Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee. The grant is part of the Foundation’s Awards Program in Alzheimer’s Disease Drug Discovery Research, and Dr. Fossati will work with Marc Ilies, PhD, Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Temple University School of Pharmacy, to develop a new Alzheimer’s-specific version of an already-existing drug family called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
