Jerome Maddox, JD, PhD has been appointed General Counsel for Fox Chase Cancer Center, effective May 9, 2022. He joins Fox Chase and Temple Health from his role as Vice President, Global Commercial and Public Policy in the legal department at Moderna, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Mr. Maddox earned his law degree, cum laude, from the Temple University Beasley School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he earned a PhD in political science at Harvard University, where he also earned his B.A., and held tenure track positions in the Departments of Political Science at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his role at Moderna, he had roles of increasing responsibility at GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia, including as Vice President, Legal Operations for Global and U.S. Vaccines and as Senior Counsel for R&D and Global Legal Operations – Oncology. Mr. Maddox also had previous roles at Aramark Corporation as an Assistant General Counsel and as an Associate in the Antitrust practice group at the Dechert LLP law firm in Philadelphia.
Mr. Maddox is a long-time resident of Philadelphia, serves as a Board Member of the Free Library of Philadelphia and is a past Co-President of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group.
As a member of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s executive team and reporting to John Ryan, Mr. Maddox will lead and oversee the legal and governance functions for Fox Chase Cancer Center, including corporate secretarial matters, major contracts and transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, legal support of research, intellectual property, clinical trials and affiliations with commercial partners, and medical staff and patient care matters.
