Patricia Loeber, RN, a nurse on TUH-Main Campus’ 4 East Unit, recently received the DAISY Award for her dedication to ensuring all of her patients’ needs were met and her commitment to making them feel comfortable and secure. Read more in this excerpt from her nomination, written by one of her former patients:
“This nurse went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe, comfortable, and had everything I needed. A simple deed of helping me wash my hair when I felt down, a small favor of heating my tea, and getting me the meds I needed in a timely manner. She is on top of her game and never failed to deliver on her promises. Although I didn’t require a lot of meds or check-ins, she always made sure to see me every hour or so to see if I needed anything at all. She made me feel safe and confident, and helped encourage an overall feeling of wellness during my long stay.”
The DAISY Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, and created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
