“The collective of all of us together allows us to do extraordinary things,” noted John Lasky, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Temple University Health System, in honoring the 2024 recipients of the Special Contributor Award. “You are forging the culture.”
The award reflects a longtime tradition at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus. Every year, honorees include a select group of individuals who go above and beyond in their work to support our patients, visitors, and each other.
“Receiving this award is meaningful because it’s not just about showing up,” Lasky said during a special ceremony on May 14, 2024 before a standing-room-only crowd of colleagues, friends, and family. “These people show us how diverse in talent this place is, and they are making a real difference.”
While Special Contributors represent a variety of roles and departments across the two institutions, excellence is what they all have in common. Nominees are considered by a selection committee in keeping with the following criteria:
Contributes significantly to our mission beyond the demands of one’s particular duties
Serves as a source of strength and inspiration to colleagues
Demonstrates behaviors of Respect, Service, and Quality
In addition, the award is given based on nominations from colleagues, who then take part in presenting the award at the annual ceremony in the Fox Chase Cafeteria.
The Special Contributor Award was established more than 40 years ago at Fox Chase and later expanded to TUH – Jeanes Campus to showcase the dedication of employees and volunteers to cancer science and medicine; to compassionate academic care in the community setting; and ultimately, to the people of this campus community.
It is considered the premier form of individual recognition at Fox Chase and TUH – Jeanes Campus. Any employee or volunteer at these institutions is eligible to receive the award.
