Temple Health Works to Prevent Heart Disease and Stroke in Our Community with Go Red Day Events

View All News

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the US, and stroke isn’t far behind. That’s why Temple Health is doing all we can to promote heart health for our patients and community, including hosting Go Red Day events at TUH-Main Campus, Temple Health-Chestnut Hill Hospital, and Fox Chase Cancer Center on February 7th.

Go Red for Women is an American Heart Association (AHA) initiative focused on ending heart disease and stroke in women. Each year, on the first Friday in February, the AHA holds National Wear Red Day, which fundraises for cardiovascular research and educational programs on heart health.

The theme of Temple’s 2025 Go Red Day events—which were organized by our Advanced Heart Failure, Transplant, and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program—was “Be Your Own Heart Hero!” Patients and community members were encouraged to take a pledge for heart health and, in doing so, to earn their superhero cape.

Our team provided heart health education, including the eight steps for a healthy heart: know your risk, eat a healthy diet, be physically active, watch your weight, live tobacco-free, manage conditions, take your medicine, and be a team player.

Check out the photos from the events across our Health System, and make sure you’re doing your part to support your own heart health!
