For the last eight years, the Heart Failure and Transplant Program at Temple’s Heart and Vascular Institute has hosted our annual Heart Failure Awareness events, which are a chance to connect with our community, provide education, and host activities about heart failure and heart-healthy lifestyle changes.

This year, we had a jam-packed schedule, starting with Go Red Day on February 2nd. Participants were invited to make a pledge to improve their heart health and take home a Temple Health superhero cape.

Then, starting on February 13th, it was time for Heart Failure Awareness Week, featuring events like the Heart Awareness Wheel of Fun, the Heart Failure Support Group, and Heart Failure Education sessions for patient and caretakers. Topics included understanding heart failure, heart failure medications, self-care and symptom management, coping with illness and caretaker burnout, and advanced therapy options for heart failure.

Next, we moved to the Ontario East Lobby, for hands-on CPR, another Wheel of Fun, and a photo booth and raffle. Then, Chef Jeff Klova and Temple Clinical Dietitian Specialist William Stallings, Jr. held a heart-healthy cooking demonstration and lunch for our community members. The day ended with Laughter Yoga with Alexa: a fun way to reduce stress and promote heart wellness!

Scroll through the photos below to check out all the fun from the events, and remember to make your heart health a priority!
