Our Temple Physicians, Inc. (TPI) practices are a vital part of the Temple Health community, and they work extra hard to find opportunities to engage patients and boost team spirit. That’s why Temple Physicians at Rockledge—a group of Family Medicine providers who offer high-quality, compassionate care for patients ages 16+—held their inaugural “It’s Hip to Be Healthy” event this Halloween!
“It’s Hip to Be Healthy” was a throwback to the 1960s, and featured Temple Physicians at Rockledge providers and staff dressing up as hippies, complete with flower crowns, bell bottoms, fringe vests, and John Lennon-style sunglasses.
The team was thrilled to see that their flower power vibes resonated with patients. “Our patient population is mostly geriatric, so when they saw us, they loved it,” says Nausheen Hussain, MD, a physician at the practice. “They were saying, ‘Oh my God, this is bringing back memories!’ One of the patients even liked our costumes so much that they ordered us hoagies. Another patient who’s involved with photography got us together and took our picture.”
“I think the patients were really appreciative of how we were trying to create a fun environment,” Dr. Hussain continues. “It brought us all together—including the staff.”
And while Halloween may be over, Dr. Hussain and her team are committed to holding similar events in the future. “It creates this air of excitement, and it makes everyone happy to be here,” she says. “I love that Temple is encouraging us to do this.”
