Temple Faculty Physicians is excited to introduce our TFP C.A.R.E.S. (Category Exemplified in Action: Compassion, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence, and Service) Award, recognizing the outstanding contributions of our clinical and administrative staff. This award was established to encourage a culture of appreciation, in which we celebrate the work our exceptional team members do each day to uphold our values of compassion, advocacy, respect, excellence, and service. These actions not only enhance patient care, but also strengthen our teamwork and increase morale across our workplace.

We are proud to announce the first recipients of this prestigious award: Richard “Rich” Hernandez, Receptionist/Scheduler from the Department of Otolaryngology, and Shaquanna Jordan, Medical Assistant from the TFP MA Float Pool. Richard and Shaquanna were nominated by their peers and endorsed by TFP leadership, and earned the January 2025 TFP C.A.R.E.S. Award for their outstanding contributions. Please join us in celebrating their achievements and in recognizing the important impact they have on our team and patients alike.

His professionalism, kindness, and caring nature make him a standout individual. Patients often request his support, and his warm demeanor sets the standard for what it means to be a dedicated teammate. Rich embodies the core values and mission of Temple Health. His unwavering work ethic, leadership, and commitment to service, including staying late to ensure patient care, showcases his remarkable dedication. He is the ideal candidate for this award.”

Shaquanna Jordan, Medical Assistant, TFP MA Float Pool

This excerpt from Shaquanna’s nomination demonstrates her adaptability, commitment to the highest level of patient care, and positive contributions to teams across the Health System:

“Shaquanna consistently receives praise from providers and managers across various departments within TFP for her exceptional work ethic and dedication. As a float MA, she is always respectful, smiling, and embodies every aspect of Temple Health’s values. One provider shared a glowing unprompted email about her performance, describing her as a ‘breath of fresh air’ in the OB/GYN units. Shaquanna demonstrated eagerness to learn, anticipated patient needs, and ensured her team was well-prepared for each patient encounter. Her attention to detail directly supported the delivery of the highest level of care, and the provider was very much looking forward to the opportunity to work with her again. Shaquanna’s positive impact is felt across all the teams she works with.”
