Temple University Hospital (TUH) and Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) have signed an asset purchase agreement for the buildings, equipment and supplies of the current CTCA Philadelphia comprehensive cancer center campus located at 1331 E. Wyoming, Ave., in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia.

Following the transaction and pending approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the hospital will be reconfigured and operated as a nonprofit institution, consistent with Temple Health’s charitable mission.

CTCA and TUH hope to close the transaction before the end of June.

“Acquisition of these resources will enable us to expand access to Temple Health’s outstanding academic medical services to the Philadelphia’s Juniata Park region and beyond. We will identify specific services we plan to offer in that location in the coming months,” said Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President & CEO of Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital.

“CTCA Philadelphia has been honored to serve cancer patients in this community,” said Maria Scenna, President of CTCA Philadelphia. “Temple Health is well-positioned to integrate these facilities into a broader continuum of care, while expanding access to their services for the local community. Our top priority will be to ensure the seamless transition of patient care as well as work with Temple Health on employee transitions. We are proud that our investment here will continue to be a valuable resource for patients and the community it serves.”
