About
Dr. Antoine has a special interest in the treatment of metabolic disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). He performs both laparoscopic and robotic weight loss surgeries such as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the sleeve gastrectomy, and more complicated revisional bariatric surgery. He utilizes a minimally invasive approach to routine general surgery procedures and has extensive experience in repairing hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, and in surgical treatments for severe GERD. Dr. Antoine believes in an individualized treatment plan for each patient based on their medical needs, and strives to provide quality and compassionate care for all.
Originally a Southern California native, Dr. Antoine earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. He then spent several years at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he worked to identify genetic factors underlying conditions related to insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome, and the metabolic syndrome. His research in diabetes, heart disease, and other obesity-related disorders drove him to pursue a career in gastrointestinal surgery where he could directly improve patient’s lives. Dr. Antoine completed his general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and an Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
