About
Dr. Khurram H. Khan is a Podiatrist who is known as a medical educator, researcher and author with over 15 years of experience in private practice, large hospital and academic settings. His education spanned from NYU, where he earned his bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry, to Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine for his professional studies, where he was conferred the Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Dr. Khan went on to complete a three-year surgical residency specializing in High Risk Diabetic Foot and Limb Salvage and reconstructive foot surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and was named Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Khan joined the largest podiatry group in East Harlem in New York City at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine/Foot Center of New York. There he treated thousands of patients while he rose through the ranks to have held the title of Associate Professor with a specialty of high-risk diabetic foot/Charcot foot and limb salvage in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Surgery, as well as staff privileges in the Surgery department, podiatry division at New York's Metropolitan Hospital on the Upper East Side.
Dr. Khan has been the author/coauthor of several peer-reviewed papers in publications such as the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery and Foot and Ankle International. Dr. Khan has contributed chapters to several textbooks, including Compendium of Podiatric Medicine, Systemic Disease Manifestations in the Foot, Ankle, and Lower Extremity, Wound Care Practice, 1st and 2nd edition. Dr. Khan has lectured/presented his work at local and national meetings including the American Podiatric Medical Association, as well as the Diabetic Foot Conference in San Antonio.
Dr. Khan is double board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American College of Podiatric Medicine, as well as CMET certified in wound care. He is also a founding member of the APWCA (American Professional Wound Care Association) and was named a Distinguished Fellow by the National Academies of Practice (NAP) in 2016. He is a reviewer/advisor for the NIH (National Institutes of Health) in the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Sciences division.
Dr. Khan has returned to his alma mater at TUSPM, Department of Medicine, and the Foot and Ankle Institute, where he has risen through the ranks to become Chairman of the department of Podiatric medicine and is involved in providing the best, evidence-based clinical care of patients along with teaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students.
