Pregnancy
To help ensure a normal pregnancy and healthy baby, prenatal care should begin as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Our doctors and nurses provide comprehensive prenatal care that includes:
- Pregnancy confirmation
- Estimation of fetal weight
- Nutritional guidance
- Prenatal testing
- Treatment of any conditions that may affect your pregnancy and baby
Prenatal Counseling and Education
All mothers receiving prenatal care at Temple receive counseling on prenatal nutrition and other topics to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.
We offer free childbirth classes to expectant mothers that cover labor and delivery techniques, breastfeeding basics, postpartum recovery and care and recognizing and responding to newborn needs.
We also offer yoga classes to help expectant mothers with stress reduction, stretching, breathing and overall health.
High-Risk Pregnancies
If your pregnancy is considered high-risk, you will likely see one of our maternal-fetal medicine specialists (called a perinatologist). These doctors have special expertise in caring for high-risk pregnancies, including women with gestational diabetes or endometriosis, women who are over 35, or women having twins or triplets.
