Temple University Hospital’s Comprehensive Stroke Program has earned the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus and Target Stroke Elite Plus Quality Awards.

“This is the eighth year in a row that we have achieved these awards,” said Michael A. Young, MHA, FACHE, President & CEO of Temple University Health System and Temple University Hospital (TUH). “Congratulations to our physicians and the care teams for ensuring that patients receive this nationally recognized level of care. Special congratulations also go to Dr. Paul Katz, Director of TUH’s Comprehensive Stroke Program, and his colleagues in the Stroke Center—as well as our Emergency Department, Radiology, and Pharmacy teams—for ensuring that patients who come to TUH for stroke are treated promptly and receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care.”

The Gold Plus award recognizes hospitals that are 85 percent compliant with Stroke core measures for a consecutive two-year period. Target Stroke Elite Plus recognizes door-to-needle times of 45 minutes for 50 percent of patients receiving IV tPA and 60 minutes for 75 percent of patients receiving IV tPA.
