Our Commitment to the LGBTQ Community

Equality is at the heart of our mission at Temple Health and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) where we strive to provide inclusive, comprehensive and compassionate care to all LGBTQ persons.

Across these institutions, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors are treated equally in a safe environment that maintains their respect and dignity.

With strong internal support, Temple Health and LKSOM are constantly evolving to best meet the needs of its own constituents and the region’s greater LGBTQ community. Our goal is to educate and inform, improve care, foster collaboration and support every person’s educational and healthcare needs.

Enforcing our mission is the Temple Health LGBTQ Alliance Task Force of 140 members representing a wide variety of disciplines from the Health System and School of Medicine. Task force members work to continuously improve the environment, opportunities, services and policies for the LGBTQ community.

Additionally, to best support this mission, Temple encourages physicians to join Resident PRIDE, a group designed to provide support and education to providers to help them deliver the most comprehensive care to all LGBTQ+ patients.
